Case Study: Engaged Employees
The Challenge
A medium sized not-for-profit (50+ employees) was undertaking a strategic reorientation involving a subtle but fundamental shift in its strategic intent. The organisation experienced broad scale organisational change due to this shift in focus coupled with the amalgamation of geographically dispersed and diverse services.
How We Helped
Carey partnered with this organisation over a number of years on several key elements of its strategic reorientation project. The consulting role provided advice and support to the CEO and Senior Managers as they worked with their teams to transition through broad scale changes in both strategic direction and in business process. The engagement encompassed:-
- analysis of the push/pull factors affecting employee engagement;
- identification of cultural issues which might foster (or impede) change;
- developing communication plans and key messages for engaging staff in the new direction;
- identification of key strategies to guide the reorientation process;
- a comprehensive review of the organisation’s strategic plan;
- a restructure of the organisation to align with the new strategic direction;
- development of key roles to drive business improvements and recruitment to these senior roles;
- analysing and assisting with the development of organisational strategy and action plans;
- advice and support for strategies to manage change and transition processes;
- executive coaching and advice and support for the senior team and key others;
- facilitating processes (workshops/discussions) with managers and employees; and
- presenting workshops with staff on key issues to secure buy-in and underpin consistent and full implementation.
The Outcomes
The strategic reorientation project has resulted in clarity of purpose for this NFP and has helped to effectively shape its offering of programs, essential services and advocacy for the people it services.
Its senior and middle managers are well aligned, and their capabilities are continually developing.
